A penny for your thoughts

Just came across this quote and I though why not share ……..

“If we understood the power of our thoughts, we would guard them more closely. If we understood the awesome power of our words, we would prefer silence to almost anything negative. In our thoughts and words we create our own weaknesses and

our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts. We can always replace negative with positive.”
– Betty Eadie

Guard your heart…………….if you think you are, you Are.

I love reading books here are some beautiful thoughts I got from a book titled Leadership lessons from Jesus by Kenneth Blanchard.

Guard your heart

If you think angry thoughts, angry words are sure to follow

If you fill your mind with sexual fantasies, your body will find a way to fulfill those desires

If you dwell on your problems, they will soon overwhelm you

If you feel like a victim, soon you will become one.

If you give way to worry, don’t be surprised when you get ulcers

If you focus on how others misunderstand you, you will soon  become angry and bitter.

What goes in must come out. Sooner or later your thoughts translate into reality. You’re not what you think you are; but what you think, you are.

If you focus on the truth, you will speak the truth.

If you look on noble things, nobility will mark your life.

No one can stop you but you it’s time to revisit the principles you live by, live by design and not default.

If you seek lovely things, your life will be lovely to others.

If you dwell on the right, the wrong will seem less attractive to you

If you dwell on the right, the wrong will seem less attractive to you

If you look for virtue, you will find it

If you search for higher things, you will elevate your own life.

Manners Checklist

I know the title looks funny but no I am not Miss manners. Has mum or anyone ever told you mind your manners when you where little, it’s interesting how these little things help one growing up, I came across a manners checklist while reading Stephen scott’s – the Greatest man who ever lived.

I just thought to share with you, It’s helped me these past two weeks I hope it will also be of help to you.

Manner’s Checklist

Respond calmly , with wisdom, insight and  objectivity to put fires out instead of fueling the fires with a reaction.

Listen first, don’t interrupt, don’t quickly change the subject when you speak

Approach others from their frame of reference

Be interactive, ask questions that focus on what the other person is saying.

Be more compassionate

Be more empathetic to the concerns and needs of others

Look at others from what you can give in the relationship and not what you can receive.

Make an effort to continually reset your focus from the negatives of situations to those things for which you are grateful.

Begin to focus on how you can calm others when there is a dissension instead of contributing to the dissension.

Make a daily effort to encourage instead of judging or criticizing.

Make an effort to respond to conflict with gentleness not reacting harshly.

Be quick to serve and slow to expect others to serve you.

The Little things that matter

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, wake up it’s 5:30 I need to get to work, so I won’t eat and I won’t make my bed. The boss must not get to the office before me  or if I’m late I’ll pay a fine. So you rush quickly take a bath,  jump on the bus  and you  are off to work. At work you barely make it in just in time 7:30 on the dot.

And  so the rush continues at 11: 30 you remember ooh I haven’t spoken to mum this week, I should call and say hi. Suddenly the boss comes “you need to get this proposal out to Mr AA, he is waiting for it now  it should get there within the hour.  Ooh I’ll call mum later and so the day continues, ooh I forgot today is Jane’s birthday; I  must not forget to call the her… . “Mrs B we need some more materials make sure you take down the inventory and pass it to the right manager.

Suddenly it’s 6pm  the day is over, I’ve got to get out of here rush hour traffic is about to start rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . Finally home.

At home: I realize I have not eaten today, I forgot Jane’s birthday and I didn’t call mum what a way to live life.

Sometimes little things that seem insignificant calling a family member, remembering someone’s birthday  go a long way. In the hustle and bustle of life, Let’s remember the little things.
